The samples can literally come from any source I can think of. Of course there are well known sources like record or tape, which both have special sound characteristics and different options of manipulating the sound like playing the record at a different speed. Other sources might be field recordings, radio, internet (in a lot of different ways), recording yourself and others playing around with instruments, synthesizers, machines etc. There is some kind of magic in taking sounds from the past that you really relate to or that move something in you and fusing them with other sounds from other sources, involving them into a creational process in the present to capture this feeling for the future. I draw inspiration from my friends near and far, listening to a lot of different music, my father’s record and tape collection, staying curious, cycling around, hitchhiking, visiting people in other places to experience their way of living, being in nature, working in different jobs that demand my attention in diverse ways, observing other people and myself and ending up in random conversations with strangers, amongst other things."
